Carpet & Underlay Uplifting

Biohazard Carpet & Underlay Uplifting With Full Disinfection

Carpet and underlay removal following death, accident, trauma or infection control action against bacteria, mould, fungus or virus — with Sanondaf fogging and electrostatic spray disinfection included as standard, lawful incineration and full consignment paperwork.

Why It Matters

Lifting a contaminated carpet is an airborne risk, not a floor job

Carpet and underlay hold years of hazardous dust, and when they are disturbed that dust — combined with blood, bodily fluids, spores or viral load — is launched into the air. It is breathed in, and it attaches to clothes, flooring, walls, hair and people. Pulling a carpet up without a containment and disinfection plan spreads the problem through the property instead of removing it.

Every uplift we carry out for trauma or infection control includes Sanondaf fogging and electrostatic spray high-spectrum disinfection as standard, delivered through Shropshire Expert Cleaners LTD and Sanondaf Shropshire. The treatment kills up to 99.9999% of pathogens, is safe for electronics and soft furnishings, and decontaminates the particles released during removal rather than only the surfaces you can see. Read more about our disinfection and fogging process or the guide to what a biohazard clearance actually involves.

Part carpet or whole carpet?

We can either cut out the visibly stained section or remove the entire carpet and underlay. We recommend removing the entire carpet. A visible stain may be only a few inches across on the surface, yet the fluid has usually bled underneath and spread invisibly across a radius of several feet on the reverse of the carpet and through the underlay.

We check what is underneath

With the carpet and underlay up, we inspect the boards, screed or concrete beneath for staining and fluid penetration and report anything we find, with photographs, before disinfection is applied — so you can plan for flooring works while we are still on site rather than discovering it afterwards.

Manual disinfection add-on

Where required we add manual disinfection cleaning: physical removal and treatment of left-over blood, body parts, urine, excrement and other biological residue on hard surfaces, skirtings and walls, carried out before the fogging and electrostatic treatment.

  • Death, unattended death, suicide and accident scenes
  • Blood and bodily fluid penetration into pile, underlay and sub-floor
  • Infection control action against bacteria, mould, fungus or virus
  • Sanondaf fogging and electrostatic spray disinfection included as standard
  • Sub-floor inspected and photographed for staining and penetration
  • Quarantined on site, transported by licensed carrier, incinerated with heat treatment
  • Duty of care documentation (DOC) and hazardous waste consignment notes issued
  • Optional manual disinfection clean of remaining biological residue

With 17+ years of specialist clearance, biohazard and decontamination experience, we hold the licences and disposal routes before we quote — not part-way through the job.

Questions?

Carpet and underlay uplifting FAQ

Why do you recommend removing the whole carpet rather than cutting out the stain?

Because the visible surface stain is rarely the full extent of contamination. A mark a few inches across on the pile can have bled through into the underlay and spread invisibly across a radius of several feet underneath, along with wicking into gripper rods and skirting edges. Cutting out only the visible area leaves contaminated underlay and sub-floor in place. We will cut out a section if that is what you instruct, but we recommend full removal of carpet and underlay.

Is disinfection included with carpet and underlay uplifting?

Yes. Sanondaf fogging and electrostatic spray high-spectrum disinfection is included as standard on every carpet and underlay uplift we carry out for trauma or infection control. Lifting carpet and underlay releases hazardous dust particles combined with biohazards that are projected into the air and settle on flooring, walls, clothing, hair and people. Fogging and electrostatic application decontaminates those particles and reaches surfaces a cloth never touches.

Do you check the floor underneath the carpet?

Always. Once the carpet and underlay are up we inspect the boards, screed or concrete beneath for staining and penetration from bodily fluids, and we report what we find with photographs before we disinfect. If fluids have soaked into timber, that will affect the treatment required and we will tell you at the time rather than after we have left.

How much does carpet removal and incineration cost?

Whole carpet removal, quarantined transport and incineration starts from £200. Terms depend on the type of biohazard or hazard, the staining type, how far fluids and staining have penetrated, the location, and access and loading arrangements. A remote WhatsApp assessment or a free site visit gives you a fixed figure.

What happens to the carpet and underlay after removal?

Contaminated carpet and underlay are wrapped and quarantined on site, transported by a licensed carrier and destroyed by incineration with heat treatment. You receive the accompanying legal paperwork — duty of care documentation (DOC) and hazardous waste consignment notes — for the property file, insurer or solicitor.

Can you also clean the remaining blood or bodily fluids?

Yes, as an add-on we provide manual disinfection cleaning, which covers left-over blood, body parts, urine, excrement and other biological residue on hard surfaces, skirtings and walls, before the fogging and electrostatic treatment is applied.

How do I get a quote without a visit?

Send a WhatsApp message to 07462 479 576 (WhatsApp only — images cannot be emailed) with your name, post code, email address, a brief description of the event, clear pictures and video of the area, which floor it is on, whether access is easy via the front or rear entrance, and whether there is dedicated parking. One room can usually be quoted remotely; two rooms or more require a free visit and assessment. We reserve the right to request a visit if the pictures are unclear or the work looks more complicated.
