A few inches on the surface, several feet underneath
A visible surface stain may be only a few inches across, but fluids bleed downwards and then sideways between the carpet backing and the underlay. On the underside, contamination commonly spreads invisibly over a radius of several feet. Cutting to the visible edge leaves contaminated material in the room. That is why we recommend uplifting the entire carpet and underlay rather than a patch — both options are available, and we will tell you honestly which one the evidence supports.
Uplifting releases what the carpet was holding
Carpet and underlay hold hazardous dust particles combined with biohazards. Uplifting projects them into the air, where they are breathed in and attach to clothing, hair, flooring, walls and people. Every carpet and underlay uplift therefore includes Sanondaf fogger and electrostatic spray high-spectrum disinfection as standard, decontaminating those particles rather than simply relocating them.
The sub-floor check nobody else mentions
Once the carpet is up we inspect the flooring underneath for staining and penetration from bodily fluids. Timber boards, chipboard joints and porous screed absorb fluid readily, and floorboard gaps allow it to reach joists and the void below. We report what we find while we are still on site, so you can arrange a qualified contractor or consider your options during the works rather than receive a surprise after we have finished.
